The series centers on 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody, who moves in with his freewheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town after his mother dies of a heroin overdose. Headed by boot-tough matriarch Janine “Smurf” Cody and her right-hand Baz, who runs the business and calls the shots, the clan also consists of Pope, the oldest and most dangerous of the Cody boys; Craig, the tough and fearless middle son; and Deran, the troubled, suspicious “baby” of the family. Also prominent are Nicky, J’s steady girlfriend, and Catherine, Baz’s de facto wife and the mother of their 3-year-old daughter, Lena. It isn’t long before Josh is pulled into the family’s life of indulgence and excess, but he soon discovers that it’s all being funded by criminal activities. Joining the family comes with more danger and excitement than he might be ready to handle.

Season 01, Episode 01 – “Pilot”
After his mother dies of a heroin overdose, Joshua ‘J’ Cody moves in with his estranged grandmother, Janine ‘Smurf’ Cody in Oceanside, California. He finds himself drawn into a dark world funded by criminal activities that he’s been shielded from for years, as she and his uncles plan their upcoming heist. J must prove his loyalty to stay alive, all the while learning that Smurf is the intense, beguiling, and complicated matriarch, who rules over “her boys” with a borderline incestuous love.

Season 01, Episode 02 – “We Don’t Hurt People”
Fallout from a heist impacts the Codys when they discover not all went as planned. Smurf enlists the guys to tie up loose ends, but a deepening rivalry threatens the job. Meanwhile, Pope grows increasingly volatile.

Season 01, Episode 03 – “Stay Close, Stick Together”
Craig recovers from a wound as Baz and Craig sharpen focus on old associates in Mexico. Meanwhile, Pope needs cash and draws Deran and J into a job without Smurf’s knowledge, and Deran sends a terrifying message to J.

Season 01, Episode 04 – “Dead to Me”
Pope’s birthday approaches as Smurf probes whether the boys are playing by her rules. Meanwhile, J makes discoveries about his mother’s estrangement from the family.

Season 01, Episode 05 – “Flesh Is Weak”
Pope goes to extreme measures when Deran won’t return home. Meanwhile, Baz comes up with an idea for Cody’s next job; J goes out with his teacher; and Smurf faces her past.

Season 01, Episode 06 – “Child Care”
Smurf does what’s needed to keep the family intact when Pope tests positive for drugs. Also, Baz assembles his brothers to rob a home as part of his larger scheme, and J faces a moral dilemma.

Season 01, Episode 07 – “Goddamn Animals”
While Smurf takes care of unfinished business, Craig and Deran throw a party at the house. Forced to accelerate his timetable, Baz takes the final step in his long con. J makes a dangerous mistake.

Season 01, Episode 08 – “Man In”
Tensions soar as the Codys prepare for their big heist. Also, Catherine gets a shock and must make a big family decision, and the police put pressure on J.

Season 01, Episode 09 – “Judas Kiss”
The Codys aim for the biggest score of their lives as the cops put J in an impossible position. Meanwhile, Catherine arrives to make amends, raising Smurf’s suspicions in the process, and Pope is enlisted to investigate.

Season 01, Episode 10 – “What Have You Done”
Baz is perplexed by Catherine’s vanishing and tracks all leads in the Season 1 finale. Also: Authorities close in on the Codys, with J caught in the middle.
