This contributed volume focuses on various important areas of mathematics in which approximation methods play an essential role. It features cutting-edge research on a wide spectrum of analytic inequalities with emphasis on differential and integral inequalities in the spirit of functional analysis, operator theory, nonlinear analysis, variational calculus, featuring a plethora of applications, making this work a valuable resource.
Originating as an attempt to provide solid logical foundations for fuzzy set theory, and motivated also by philosophical and computational problems of vagueness and imprecision, Mathematical Fuzzy Logic (MFL) has become a significant subfield of mathematical logic. Research in this area focuses on many-valued logics with linearly ordered truth values and has yielded elegant and deep mathematical theories and challenging problems, thus continuing to attract an ever increasing number of researchers. This handbook provides, through its several volumes, an up-to-date systematic presentation of the best-developed areas of MFL.
This textbook covers key topics of Elementary Calculus through selected exercises, in a sequence that facilitates development of problem-solving abilities and techniques. It opens with an introduction to fundamental facts of mathematical logic, set theory, and pre-calculus, extending toward functions, limits, derivatives, and integrals. Over 300 solved problems are approached with a simple, direct style, ordered in a way that positively challenges students and helps them build self-confidence as they progress. A special final chapter adds five carefully crafted problems for a comprehensive recap of the work.
