Best friends, Steve and Luke, set out to create a short film for their Film Studies class’ final project. Over their objections, Luke persuades Steve and their film’s cast members, Natalie and Quint, to deviate from the planned shooting schedule and film their final scene in an abandoned warehouse. Inside they discover a cache of guns and drugs, and find a man savagely beaten and being held hostage by a merciless drug cartel. Before they can make their escape and get help, cartel enforcers return and heinously murder their hostage. Realizing they are not alone, the cartel sicarios hunt down to execute the film students that have witnessed their crime. Relentlessly determined to kill them, the college classmates must evade capture and survive against these hitmen, or become their next victims. In the end, they must face-off with the cartel’s most ruthless killer, and do so, all while capturing the events on camera.

Seven Japanese anime studios bring their unique talent and perspective to “Star Wars: Visions”—a collection of animated short films that will stream exclusively on Disney+. The anime studios are Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio (Twin Engine), Studio Colorido (Twin Engine), TRIGGER, Kinema Citrus, Science Saru, and Production I.G. Each studio will use their signature animation and storytelling styles to realize their own visions of the galaxy far, far away. As a first formal venture into anime, each “Star Wars: Visions” short bears a unique Japanese sensibility, which in many ways aligns with the tone and spirit of Star Wars storytelling. From the beginning, stories told in the Star Wars galaxy have counted Japanese mythology and the films of Akira Kurosawa among their many influences, and these new visions will further explore that cultural heritage through the unique animation style and perspective of each anime studio.

Texas beauty Susan Wright appeared to have a fairytale life with an adoring husband, Jeff, two beautiful kids, and close family and friends. But in 2003, six years into their marriage, the fairy tale crumbles when Jeff is found dead and buried in the backyard of their suburban home. The close-knit community is shocked as police accuse Susan of pre-meditated murder — luring her husband into the bedroom, tying him up and violently stabbing him almost 200 times before haphazardly cleaning up the crime scene. As Jeff’s family reels from the devastating news, Susan begins to mount her aggressive defense; that she needed to kill Jeff out of self-preservation for herself and her children after years of physical and mental abuse. But prosecutor Kelly Siegler is skeptical of her defense and forcefully argues she is a cunning, doe-eyed sociopath, who has used her good looks to try to get away with anything in life — even murder…
