David Bowie (real name David Robert Jones) (8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016)
British rock musician, singer, producer, sound engineer, composer, songwriter, artist, actor. He was a figure in popular music for over four decades, and was considered by critics and other musicians as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. His androgynous appearance was an iconic element of his image, principally in the 1970s and 1980s.In 2002 in a poll of BBC B “100 Greatest Britons “Bowie took the 29th place. Throughout his career he has sold over 136 million records, thereby entering the top ten best-selling artists in the history of popular music of the United Kingdom. Six of his albums are included in the list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” by the magazine Rolling Stone (the first three of them came in a row from 1972-1973, the other three – in 1976-1977). In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine put it at 39th place in the list of “100 Greatest Artists of rock music of all time” and on the 23th place in the list of “100 Greatest Singers of All Time.”
