Set in Singapore during the 1997 Asian financial crisis, Ilo Ilo chronicle the story of the bond between a 10-year-old Singaporean boy, Jiale and his caretaker, Teresa from the Philippines – while his parents struggle to overcome their already strained relationship as well as the financial crisis. Teresa and Jiale soon formed a bond and continues to develop and she becomes an unspoken part of the family.
There Is Simply Nothing Like This! This movie manages to be a really great love story and an absolutely terrifying ghost story all at once. This chilling and thoughtful thriller exemplifies what movie makers who’ve earned their chops on the stage can bring to the big screen. The characters are three-dimensional; sharp, efficient dialog defines the relationships and moves the plot forward; life in a recently bereaved family, a small Irish town, and a literary festival is acutely observed.

The movie plays out against the backdrop of a beautifully shot Irish coastal town. The cinematography is just top-notch. The score is really haunting choral music. I was reminded of movies like The Exorcist or The Shining when I saw this — the drama is real — the horror is real.

Luna’s next project was formerly titled The Ouija Experiment. United Kingdom distributors Signature Entertainment have renamed this horror title to The Realm for a Summer release. The Realm is a found footage film. Several friends have a Ouija party and they manage to summon spirits and even some personal demons. Events get hectic when the evil entity makes its presence known. Will anyone survive this night of terror? This title will likely release in North America, shortly.
