The Whispers is based on a Ray Bradbury short story called “Zero Hour.” When children across Washington, D.C., all start talking with the same imaginary friend named Drill, who persuades them to play dangerous games, the FBI calls in child specialist Claire Bennigan – whose deaf son has been speaking to Drill, unbeknownst to her – to investigate. Meanwhile, the defense department sends Wes Lawrence to the Sahara Desert, where he encounters a strange geological phenomenon. As puzzle pieces come together, creating a frightening picture, humanity must wage a battle against unseen forces if it hopes to survive.

Season 01, Episode 01 – “X Marks the Spot”
A young girl’s imaginary friend encourages her to attempt to murder her own mother. FBI Agent Claire Bennigan comes off of leave to investigate what seems to be a routine case, but soon learns that there have been a rash of a reports of a mysterious individual called “Drill” who has incited other children to acts of violence. Meanwhile, in the Sahara desert, Defense Department agent Wes Lawrence is summoned to the scene of a bizarre F-22 crash.

Season 01, Episode 02 – “Hide & Seek”
John Doe’s mysterious mission continues, while Claire delays offering his sketch to other bureau offices so she can focus on identifying him herself. Later, a displeased Lena learns that Wes is communicating with Claire about a case, and Drill’s dangerous game with Minx, Henry and Harper continues.

Season 01, Episode 03 – “Collision”
John Doe takes Dr. Benavidez hostage and a mysterious entity leads him to a secret location, while Claire and Wes dig further into John Doe’s past, where they find clues to his next target.

Season 01, Episode 04 – “Meltdown”
Minx tries to persuade Henry to play one more game for Drill, while Claire and Wes race to stop John Doe from spearheading a major incident that could cause millions of deaths.

Season 01, Episode 05 – “What Lies Beneath”
Claire tries to jog Sean’s memory about their past life together; an epiphany sends Wes back t o Mali to reinspect the fulgurite; and Lena keeps a close eye on Minx to see if she is still conversing with Drill.

Season 01, Episode 06 – “The Archer”
Claire talks to a group of children who’ve had contact with Drill, leading to an amazing breakthrough, while Wes uncovers remarkable evidence about Drill’s possible mission.

Season 01, Episode 07 – “Whatever It Takes”
Wes meets with the President to determine whether the mysterious rock should be destroyed, while Drill targets a member of the President’s family. Later, Sean’s reunion with his family may be short since his collaboration with Drill may lead to prison; and Lena tries to communicate with Drill through daughter Minx.

Season 01, Episode 08 – “A Hollow Man”
Claire and Sean track down a man who had his own deadly encounter with Drill more than 30 years ago.

Season 01, Episode 09 – “Broken Child”
Claire, Sean, Wes and Lena meet a man who first encountered Drill more than 30 years ago, which could prove invaluable, provided Drill doesn’t find a way to do away with him first.

Season 01, Episode 10 – “Darkest Fears”
A plan to trap Drill could lead to draining its energy, which would cause death.

Season 01, Episode 11 – “Homesick”
Wes sees a way to weaken Drill and seeks the President’s approval to round up all the children and place them in a protected zone.

Season 01, Episode 12 – “Traveller in the Dark”
Drill takes over one of the children, but no one knows which one, leading to fear and confusion.

Season 01, Episode 13 – “Game Over”
In the Season 1 finale, Drill revs up the end game, which sends the team scrambling to put a stop to it before a catastrophe ensues.
