East New York follows Regina Haywood, the newly promoted police captain of East New York, an impoverished, working class neighborhood at the eastern edge of Brooklyn. She leads a diverse group of officers and detectives, some of whom are reluctant to deploy her creative methods of serving and protecting during the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification.

Season 01, Episode 01
Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood, is the newly promoted boss of the 74th Precinct in East New York – a working-class neighborhood on the edge of Brooklyn in the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification. With family ties to the area, Haywood is determined to deploy creative methods to protect her beloved community with the help of her officers and detectives. But first, she has the daunting task of getting them on board, as some are skeptical of her promotion, and others resist the changes she is desperate to make. Her team includes her mentor, shrewd veteran two-star Chief John Suarez; Marvin Sandeford, a highly respected training officer and expert on the neighborhood; Tommy Killian, a detective with some old-school approaches to policing; Capt. Stan Yenko, Haywood’s gregarious and efficient right hand; Crystal Morales, an intuitive detective who can’t be intimidated; Andre Bentley, a trainee from an upper middle-class background; and ambitious patrol officer Brandy Quinlan, the sole volunteer to live in a local housing project as part of Haywood’s plan to bridge the gap between police and community. Regina Haywood has a vision: she and the squad of the 74th Precinct will not only serve their community – they’ll also become part of it.

Season 01, Episode 02 – “Misdemeanor Homicide”
When two homicide victims – a young man from the housing projects and a fast-rising hedge fund partner – are discovered in the community, Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood fights to ensure both cases receive the same resources to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Season 01, Episode 03 – “The Small Things”
During an investigation into a fatal shooting, the team crosses paths with Demonté Green, a smooth-talking businessman who may have been the intended target. Also, Deputy Inspector Haywood tries to help a troubled teen, and Detective Killian finds himself at odds with his girlfriend, Corinne, after she hires an ex-con to work at their new bar.

Season 01, Episode 04 – “Snapped”
When the team receives an unusual call for police assistance, they must employ creative methods to defuse a critical family conflict. Also, Haywood’s mother encourages her to connect with her estranged father, and rookie officer Bentley bristles at career advice from his mentor, Sandeford.

Season 01, Episode 05 – “Going Commando”
When a prisoner serving a life sentence escapes, the 7-4 teams up with the U.S. Marshals to track down the convict before he finds the cop who put him away: Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood. Also, Officer Quinlan struggles with her living situation.

Season 01, Episode 06 – “Court On The Street”
When a child goes missing, Haywood encourages Yenko to use his connection to a witness in the race to locate the young boy. Also, Chief Suarez lands in hot water after an arrest goes viral, and Sandeford unexpectedly crosses paths with an ex-girlfriend while on the job.

Season 01, Episode 07 – “Best Served Cold”
When a man is shot during a supermarket opening, Detective Morales suspects the crime is related to an unsolved assault case she was pressured to drop years earlier. Also, Officer Quinlan discovers pivotal new details that could help solve a cold case close to home.

Season 01, Episode 08 – “CompStat Interruptus”
When four party-goers fatally overdose, the 7-4’s investigation is impeded by an ongoing DEA operation, and Haywood turns to Suarez for help. Also, Yenko deals with tension at home, and Sandeford prepares for a date with his ex, Tamika (guest star Luna Lauren Velez).

Season 01, Episode 09 – “When Dinosaurs Roamed the Earth”
When a retired cop who was planning to go public with claims of corruption dies and it’s initially ruled suicide, a skeptical Haywood directs her team to investigate. Also, Bentley and Quinlan grow closer.

Season 01, Episode 10 – “10-13”
With Bentley fighting for his life, Haywood and team race to track down the shooter, whose true target may have been another one of their own.

Season 01, Episode 11 – “By the Book”
When a dancer is found on the New York City subway tracks, Killian and Morales’ investigation into her mysterious death challenges their tried-and-true detective work. Also, the grand opening of Goody’s is put in jeopardy and Quinlan and Bentley’s relationship hits a speedbump.

Season 01, Episode 12 – “Up In Smoke”
When a string of marijuana dispensaries are robbed, Killian discovers a connection that could derail his personal life. Also, Suarez has a fateful meeting with Allison Cha, an influential political policy advisor, and Bentley returns to work after his shooting.

Season 01, Episode 13 – “We Didn’t Start the Fire”
When the 7-4 investigates a fatal fire at a hair salon, Killian and Morales turn to Dr. Ken Corley, a medical examiner with ties to Regina’s past, and fire marshal Nicky Greenville for crucial insight. Also, Haywood announces a new policy without discussing it with Suarez, and Quinlan worries about Bentley’s worsening nightmares.

Season 01, Episode 14 – “Family Tithes”
When a house party in Ruskin Gardens ends in murder, Morales and Killian turn to Quinlan for insight into her neighbors to help crack the case. Also, Haywood takes on an unexpected new role, and Suarez tries to help his brother with a challenging situation.

Season 01, Episode 15 – “There Goes the Neighborhood”
When a body is found at the construction site of a new high-end housing development, the team races to find the killer amidst a contentious gentrification battle in the neighborhood. Also, Quinlan’s mother, Ann-Marie, pays an unexpected visit.

Season 01, Episode 16 – “Personal Shopper”
When a string of luxury boutique robberies is tied to a crew out of East New York, the 7-4 discovers a connection to Haywood that could prove crucial to solving the case.

Season 01, Episode 17 – “Pound of Flesh”
The 7-4 investigates the suspicious death of the patriarch of a neighborhood barbecue joint who has a close connection to Suarez. Also, Haywood receives an unexpected request from her father.

Season 01, Episode 18 – “In The Bag”
The 7-4’s investigation into a violent home invasion leads them to question one of their own. Also, Morales contends with a situation at her son’s school, and Haywood is forced to confront her father’s past.

Season 01, Episode 19 – “The Harder They Fall”
After an assistant district attorney is found dead following a court appearance, Haywood and Suarez face enormous pressure to solve the case. Also, Killian turns to a questionable source for help with a personal problem.

Season 01, Episode 20 – “A Humbling Blues”
The team faces unexpected challenges while investigating the murder of a homeless man. Also, Haywood and Dryden hit a speedbump in their relationship, and Quinlan struggles with a decision at Ruskin Gardens.

Season 01, Episode 21 – “Ruskin Roulette”
Haywood’s leadership is called into question after a tragic shooting close to home, and her relationship with Suarez is put to the test.
