So Help Me Todd follows Todd, a talented but directionless P.I. who is the black sheep of his family. Despite their opposing personalities, he agrees to work as the in-house investigator for his overbearing mother, Margaret, a successful attorney reeling from the recent dissolution of her marriage.

Season 1, Episode 01 – “Pilot”
As the black sheep of the well-heeled Wright family, Todd is a laidback, quick-thinking, excellent former private detective who fell on hard times after his flexible interpretation of the law got his license revoked. Margaret’s penchant for excellence and strict adherence to the law is at complete odds with Todd’s scrappy methods of finding his way through sticky situations: by the seat of his wrinkled pants. When Todd inadvertently teams with his mother on a case, she’s surprised to find herself duly impressed by – and proud of – his crafty ability to sleuth out information with his charm and his wide-ranging tech savvy. At last, Margaret sees a way to put her son on a “suitable” path to living an adult, financially solvent life she approves of, and she asks him to join her firm. Todd agrees, since it means getting his license back and once again doing the job he excels at and loves. Mother and son working together is a big first step toward mending their fragile, dysfunctional relationship, and they may even come away with a better understanding of each other at this pivotal point in their lives. But whether Todd and Margaret will be able to accept each other for who they are is another case entirely.

Margaret and Todd work two seemingly unrelated cases, only to discover a key piece of information in the details of Todd’s humorously boring civil case could help Margaret’s high-profile client.

Margaret and Todd work to bring justice to an Olympic athlete who lost his leg in a plane crash resulting from a defective aircraft.

Season 1, Episode 05 – “Let the Wright One In”
Margaret attempts to join an elite philanthropy club and must represent a former club employee accused of using the organization to smuggle drugs. Also, Todd goes undercover as a waiter at the elite club to get information to help Margaret’s case.

Season 1, Episode 06 – “So Help Me Pod”
Margaret and Francey enlist the help of a popular true crime podcaster, Lea Luna (Vella Lovell), to help exonerate a client who is serving a life sentence. Also, Todd solicits dating advice from his sister and Susan when sparks fly between him and Lea.

Season 1, Episode 07 – “Long Lost Lawrence”
When Margaret is disappointed that no one but Todd can attend her family Thanksgiving dinner, Todd tries to convince his brother, Lawrence, to come home. Also, Margaret’s family inadvertently helps her crack a case involving an injured bank teller and robbery.

Season 1, Episode 10 – “The Devil You Know”
When Margaret finds herself on the verge of losing a prominent case involving the murder of an investigative journalist, Todd seeks help from an unlikely source: his imprisoned ex-girlfriend, Veronica.

Season 1, Episode 11 – “Side Effects May Include Murder”
When Margaret’s client faces an attempted murder charge, she mounts a creative defense to prove her client’s innocence, and Todd takes an experimental drug to find evidence. Also, Allison finds herself in trouble and reaches out to Todd for help.

Season 1, Episode 12 – “Psilo-Sibling”
Lawrence and the governor seek Margaret’s help with a personal legal matter related to the governor’s sister, and while Margaret is ecstatic to be of assistance, Lawrence refuses to let Todd anywhere near the case.

Season 1, Episode 13 – “Wall of Fire”
When Todd agrees to help Susan’s fiancé locate a missing employee, he stumbles into a case Margaret agreed to co-counsel with Gus. Margaret and Todd realize their cases are converging and a firewall is put into place to prevent them from communicating with each other.

Season 1, Episode 14 – “Against All Todds”
When Veronica appears at the law firm requesting a favor from Todd, he agrees to help but soon realizes she may be out for revenge. Also, Margaret is upset when she is taken off a high-stakes case.

Season 1, Episode 15 – “Ivan the Terrible”
Margaret represents a gifted 17-year-old hacker charged with releasing classified defense documents and faces off against her college nemesis. Also, Todd is tasked with babysitting the teen hacker for the duration of the trial.

Season 1, Episode 16 – “Twelve Worried Persons”
When a juror dies during Susan’s first big trial as lead attorney, Margaret and Todd work to exonerate Amy, a juror from the same trial suspected of the murder. Also, Margaret’s sister Patty is in town and sparks fly between Todd and Amy.

Season 1, Episode 17 – “The First Date is the Deepest”
Margaret helps a client who lost his mother during a routine surgery at Allison’s hospital, performed by her colleague Dr. Ross Woods. Also, Margaret and Gus go on their first date and Todd is asked by the firm to investigate Gus.

Season 1, Episode 18 – “Gloom and Boom”
When a stranger with a bomb appears at the law firm demanding Margaret reverse her efforts to free her client on death row or the bomb will detonate, Margaret and Todd must rely on their legal and detective skills to untangle the crime, uncover the intentions of the bomber and save everyone at the firm.

Season 1, Episode 19 – “86’d”
Margaret represents Lauren, Susan’s good friend, in a hostile work environment lawsuit after she quits her job at a Michelin-starred restaurant, but it unexpectedly turns into a murder trial when the head chef is found dead. Also, when Todd gets sick, Margaret must go undercover as a dishwasher in a fancy restaurant while Todd acts as a restaurant critic to gather more intel on the possible suspect,

Season 1, Episode 20 – “More Fang for Your Chuck”
Margaret must represent Chuck when he faces 20 years in federal prison after being accused of fixing a cash prize giveaway at the Portland Widows hockey game. Also, Lyle finds a new love interest in a forensic accountant and Allison asks Susan to be her divorce lawyer.

Season 1, Episode 21 – “Are You There Todd? It’s Me, Margaret”
When Margaret is too sick to work on the final day of an important negotiation, Todd must step in and impersonate a lawyer while Margaret uses her investigative skills. Also, Margaret and Gus finally share their first kiss.
