Bingo gathers up his friends Jay (Felix Roco) and Calvin (Will DeVaughn) and goes on a road trip with the secret purpose of finding his father. Along the way they get into a bunch of misadventures, none of which tell us anything about the characters or advance the story in any way. Calvin is an overworked actor who worries he’s not spending enough time on himself. Half deaf Jay can’t find any direction in his life. The film would have us believe that this road trip helped them deal with these issues, explaining in three consecutive voiceover heavy scenes near the end how each of them have new approaches to life. The sheer dissonance between this conclusion and what actually happens on their road trip is simply mindblowing.

In this movie Vice plays the role of Bejamin Santos whose family has a long tradition of serving in the military. In fact, the movie’s stunning opening traces the roots of the Santos’ military service, from the days of Lapu-lapu and the Katipunan, up to the current times. Conflict ensues when Lolo Benjamin which was played by Eddie Garcia fins out that his grandson (Vice) cannot continue the tradition because he is gay. But when Lolo Benjamin is captured by terrorists, the grandson enters the military and musters all his masculine strength to save his dear grandfather, and the rest of the war-torn country as well.
