Officer Rick Grimes – the servant of the law in a small town near Atlanta – gets shot in the performance and in a coma. Waking up after a while, he sees that the world he knew before is gone. Watchmen is a twelve-issue comic book limited series created by writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons, and colorist John Higgins. Watchmen originated from a story proposal Moore submitted to DC featuring superhero characters that the company had acquired from Charlton Comics. The story chronicles the travels of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse. The new hit TV series is based from these comic books. The series won the 2010 Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series at the San Diego Comic Convention.
