   so what exactly is this release a hdtv rip???… I always thought the extended edition was NEVER broadcasted (tv broadcasters have to buy special rights to shows special dvd editions of films on tv…instead they ALWAYS edit films when put on tv)

   It’s a 720p micro-HD HDTVrip. It’s the extended edition, and usually when TV-stations play LOTR, they play the theatrical – but some (probably payTV) played the SEE, too – you can find the full 720p HD on the internet too, and I guess it’s payTV, because it has the end credits and everything… And since the movies were never released on HDDVD or BluRay (the theatrical versions will be released on BluRay these days and the extended editions probably around 2011 to coincide with The Hobbit), and since you can find both 720p and even 1080p versions of the Extended editions online – that can only mean that SOMEBODY did air them in HD.
   I hope this was clear enough.
