New Yorkers celebrated Independence Day Wednesday by ooh-ing and ah-ing at the fireworks in Manhattan and belching and burping at the hot-dog eating contest in Brooklyn. Red, white and blue explosions from 40,000 fireworks lit up the Hudson River. And starbursts blaze above the Big Apple; Regis Philbin hosts; performers include Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney.
